Ashraf Khalil is a journalist and author based in Washington DC with the Associated Press.

Khalil spent nearly 20 years covering the Middle East, based in Cairo, Baghdad and Jerusalem.

He is the author of Liberation Square: Inside the Egyptian Revolution and the Rebirth of a Nation, published by St Martin's Press.
